SANTA MONICA, California — October 23, 2026. This original California58 Local report is based on an identified public agency record. Proposals, meeting notices, campaign material and estimated outcomes are carefully distinguished from decisions and certified results.
What election locations are announced?
Santa Monica’s official 2026 election portal lists an 11-day vote center opening October 24 at the Civic Center Parking Structure, SMI Room. It lists additional four-day vote centers at Marine Park, Reed Park and Virginia Avenue Park opening October 31. Residents should confirm the precise room entrance and current voting hours through Los Angeles County’s official vote center finder.
What is Election Day?
California’s statewide election is Tuesday, November 3, 2026. Santa Monica’s city event calendar lists Election Day vote center hours as 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. Other early-vote days may have different hours; do not assume every listed center is open on the same starting day.
What should voters bring?
Eligible voters should follow Los Angeles County elections instructions regarding ballot mailing, signature and conditional registration rather than relying on online rumors. In some circumstances identification may be requested, such as for certain first-time federal voters, but no universally required photo-ID rule should be invented. Accessibility and language services should be confirmed with the county.
What follows Election Day?
The city portal marks December 8 as a tentative Council meeting for installation of new officers. Because results are not yet certified, this tentative date is not a claim about who will take office. California58 does not endorse candidates.
